Great Wedding! Mar. 17th, 2009 @ 03:28 pm
The wedding was so amazing! We're so happy that all of our closest family and friends could make it, that the weather cooperated so that we could have an outdoor ceremony, and that there were no major disasters at all during the ceremony and reception! We can't wait to see all of the photos, and eventually the video! We are so incredibly grateful for everything our families, our wedding party, and other friends did to help us out and make it such a great success.

Have photos? Please email the originals to us at domandro@domandro.com or visit http://domandro.com/upload to upload them directly on our website. Don't worry about the file size, please just send us everything you have!

Tasting Oct. 7th, 2008 @ 06:11 pm

Have we mentioned how much we love the Palm Event Center? Last week we flew up to the Bay Area for a special tasting they organized for us and all of the other couples getting married at the Palm between January and April of 2009. It was almost like getting to experience being a guest at our own wedding, with the appetizers around the room, and then a salad and entree at the table, followed by cake for dessert. Of course the big difference was that instead of choosing one entrée, they brought out all of the entrées, family-style!

Speaking of family, we brought my mom and both of Ronit's parents, since we wanted as many opinions as possible. I'm vegetarian, so I had to trust them to pick the right meat entrées, but I got to vote on the appetizers and salad, and we had a great discussion with the general manager about vegetarian possibilities. The quality of everything was excellent, and because there were over a hundred people there, we knew it wasn't a fluke. I've heard stories of catering companies that put together great meals at the tasting but can't deliver the same quality when they're serving hundreds, but it doesn't sound like we have to worry about that.

We also really enjoyed the Mitchell Katz wine; it was surprisingly good quality, and we hope you'll all enjoy it too.

There were other wedding vendors there, so we got to see some interesting ideas for table centerpieces, wedding favors, and more. A fun way to get excited about the big day! -- posted by Dominic

Engagement pictures are in! Jul. 21st, 2008 @ 08:40 am
We've taken a bit of a break from our wedding planning since we just moved in to our new condo. But we did take our engagement pictures in June and we are thrilled with how they came out. A few will soon be up on our website for you to see but until then, feel free to check out the gallery where you can also order any picture in any size print you like. Our photographers and friends, Natalie and Michael Garay were amazing and we are thrilled that they took pictures of us. Natalie will be helping out our main photographer on the day of our wedding, Louis Felix. Check out Natalie and Michael's photography site and check out the list of their galleries here and click on Mazzoni engagements. If you are asked for a password, it is "Ronit" without the quotes. The pictures were taken at the Claremont colleges, where Dominic and I both went to college, although not at the same time. Scripps and Harvey Mudd were the main campuses but some pictures were taken at Pomona, too. Enjoy the pictures and let us know what you think! Also, please support Natalie and Michael by purchasing one or two of your favorite pictures.

.... it still has to do with us and our future so I figured it was ok to post here. Dominic and I just bought a condo! We are so thrilled! It's in a fantastic location, right next to a metro rail stop and right on the way for a van pool that goes to google for Dominic. It's a beautiful new 3-bedroom 2 bath place with hardwood floors and granite countertops in the kitchen. I'm very excited! It's in a beautiful gated community with a lovely courtyard, clubhouse and fitness room for use by everyone in the complex. You can check out the website for the complex at http://www.ave26.com
We're so excited to be moving in just about a month!
» we found an officiant!
Yay, another update! After talking to several different officiants, we've found one that we realy like! Her name is Alexandra True and you can check out her website here. She actually lives in Pleasant Hill, which is the same town my parents live in, so that was realy funny. I've been visiting my parents this week to do some dress shopping and of course visit my mother for Mother's Day. So Alexandra came over to meet with me since Dominic and I had already talked to her by phone. She brought her husband along which was also really nice to meet him. I'm just sad Dominic couldn't be with me to meet them. He's in New York this week working at the google office. Hopefully he'll meet her in July when we're back in the bay area. It feels good to have another thing crossed off our list. Oh, and we also booked our photographer and videographer as well!
» a few new updates!
It's been a little too long since either Dominic or I did a journal post, so here's one! In case you haven't checked out our website recently, you should! We now have completed asking our wedding party if they'd be in our wedding party, and they all said yes! So now we've made a page for our wedding party, which includes pictures, so definitely check that out.
In other planning news, we've been interviewing possible officiants and at first we were a bit frustrated with how the meetings were going. We really want someone who we feel a connection with and we just hadn't found one yet. But I think we've now found a possibility, even though we've only talked to her by phone. I'll be meeting her when I go home in May and if I like her in person, I think Dominic and I will book her. So that's exciting.
We've also been interviewing bands, but I will let Dominic share that info with you when he so chooses. :)
When i go home in May, I'll be starting the dress shopping process with my mom and aunt and am very excited about that! Of course, Dominic will not be with us or see what we end up buying, so I won't be posting that info here. If you want to know how the dress shopping is going, feel free to contact me privately.
I think that's all the updates for now, but definitely stay tuned! - posted by Ronit
» Love At First Site
We're in the Bay Area right now, staying with Ronit's parents. We've been planning this particular trip for over a month, using our favorite wedding websites and any other advice and recommendations we could find to try to narrow down the list of possible venues. We ended up with appointments at six reception sites over two days - four country clubs, a hotel, and a winery.

Luck must have been on our side, because from the moment we saw it, we fell in love with the Palm Event Center. It's a large venue with a large reception space and places for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, on a large property right next to the Mitchell Katz winery. We must have had an inkling that we might prefer this one, because even though our appointment was for the second day, on a whim we decided to drop by and check it out on the first day when we had a little extra time. Not only was it immaculately clean, beautiful beyond our expectations, and almost exactly what we were looking for, but the staff was extremely friendly and detail-oriented. We couldn't seem to stump them with any question, no matter how obscure.

We visited two more places, but it was almost a formality. The less expensive places were disappointingly plain or even a little dirty, and the more expensive country club was elegant, but not really all that flexible. And at all of the country clubs we felt like we were being treated as far less important to them than their members. So we went back to our favorite and put down a deposit, canceling the two remaining appointments!

We're pleased to announce that our wedding will be on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the Palm Event Center in Pleasanton, CA.

On our way up here, we were telling ourselves that we might have a tough decision and need to go back for more visits and meetings on Monday and Tuesday, and we had to be prepared for the possibility that we wouldn't find a place we liked at all this trip. To our great surprise, that wasn't an issue at all, and there wasn't even a close second place! And now that we have a date set, we can start to get serious about many of the other things to plan. We're really excited! --Written by Dominic
